It can be compared to
Barneys in New York, Lord

All of these department
stores are big names in the fashion
industry. These stores all have one
thing in common: they carry high-

i::" ::i! I would first like to
introduce myself as Alina:
the goddess of gossip and
fashion.
In this day and
• age fashion styles are
Features Editor
changing every second.
One day it's cool to wear army pants and
flip-flops--oh wait, was that only cool
in the movie "Mean Girls." The next day
low-rise jeans and belly tops are hitting
the streets. Think of this advice as your
personal styling and profiling fix of the
latest and hottest trends.
Despite the recession, designers
pulled out all the stops for fashion this fall.
From hot-pink tight dresses to rave-ready
leggings and iridescent skirts, there are a
lot of tempting styles to discuss. I want to
narrow it down to the cool new trends that
don't require a manual guide or personality
change to wear.
A big thing this fall is "neon day-
glow clothing," as designer Michael Kors
said. I know what your thinking, "gross
neon bright colors can not be in." Well,
they are actually the latest rage on all major
runways.
Do not wear neon head to toe, just
find that one piece that will accent your
ensemble, You can pair a bright orange
coat with jeans and a white T-shirt. If you
wear too many neon colors you will look
like a crazy Barbie. Embrace the bright
colors and stand out, but always wear it
with a neutral color.
Color is always good--never wear
all black. Strong prominent shoulders are
back, though this style might take some
getting used to. I, for one, most definitely
can't pull it off. Slim stilettos are the big
craze this fall, as well as layers.
Always layer pieces and you will
never be cold or unfashionable again.
Prints are huge this season, everything
from floral to leopard. As always plaid,
tweed and hounds tooth are a must for the
autumn fashion essentials.
These three items are big fashion
statements. First, the eighties revival is on
the rise. The statement scarf is a staple,
followed by the must-have denim. Last
but not least, collectable T-shirts and the
famous military jacket.
For men who want to know a little
about style, I have something special
for you. According to http://wwwanen.
style.com, the males have three specific
categories. •
First classification is called "The
Wanderer," which is everything from jeans
and T-shirt, to khaki army pants and warm
sweaters. This specific group is dawned
upon as fashion wilderness. It's outdoorsy
and keeps colors neutral and earthy.
The next category is "Protection
Racket," which is pretty explanatory.
Everything from a warm bulletproof type
jacket to spiked and studded dress shoes.
It is still sporty but has enough class to
impress your boss.
The last trendy group is called "Man
Up." This is your elegant, business and
black-tie wear. These suits showcase a
new type of masculinity. The clothes may
be classy but the mind set is anything but
retro.
Here are some things that should be
in a man's closet for this fall: pin-stripped
pants, a cardigan, stripe shirt, a blazer or
sports jacket, and the classic pair. of jeans.
I hope these tips for navigating fall
fashion has helped both the females and
males. If you were already trend savvy,
then it was a good read, and for those who
learned a little bit, take it with pure love
and desire to fix the problem areas. Until
next time, keep styling and profiling.
